Three experienced seamstresses from KoKoTé's bag factory are starting their apprenticeship as EBA textile practitioners this week, laying an important foundation for their professional future. This was made possible by the intensive learning support of our mentors and several years of preparation as part of the Association Equilibre's women's empowerment project.
The Afghan Amene Nuri (1st from left) lived in Iran for many years and built a new life for herself after arriving in Switzerland. Her precision and aesthetic sense are a valuable addition to our team.
Achinedu Enebeli (2nd from left), who comes from Nigeria, is inspired by her cultural roots and motivated to discover the world of textiles in all its facets and to further establish herself professionally in Switzerland.
Shukriye Heydari (3rd from left), born in Afghanistan, has already overcome many hurdles in her life and is now looking forward to further developing her skills in textile processing.
All three trainees visit the Swiss Textile School in Zurich once a week to acquire the theoretical knowledge that they apply in their daily work at KoKoTé. This dual training, which combines practice and theory, is a central part of their professional careers.
In addition to the lessons at the vocational school, the learners continue to receive intensive support from our own trainers and mentors at KoKoTé. They not only provide them with professional support, but also convey the values and culture of KoKoTé in order to promote holistic professional and personal development.
We are proud to accompany Shukriye, Amene and Achinedu on their journey and look forward to their time together as an apprentice. With their determination, hard work and openness, they will not only achieve their own goals, but will also make an important contribution to the success of KoKoTé.
Congratulations on the start of your apprenticeship, Shukriye, Amene and Achinedu! We look forward to accompanying you on this exciting journey.
