Die Geschichte von Shukriye Heidary

I'm from Afghanistan. I've been living in Switzerland for nine years and have discovered a new world here. I'm married and the mother of three school-age children, who continually show me the importance of education. Two of my children have already begun their apprenticeships in Switzerland, and last summer, it was finally my turn. I started my EBA apprenticeship as a textile practitioner, and I can hardly express how proud I am of it.

Before arriving in Switzerland, I had never attended school. I had to learn everything related to language, reading, and writing from scratch. It was a huge challenge, but I never gave up. The support of my children and all the staff at KoKoTé gives me the confidence that I can do it.

I enjoy working at KoKoTé because I have the opportunity to pursue my passion for sewing. At the factory, I feel like part of a big family. Here, I not only get meaningful work, but also the chance to be independent and learn. KoKoTé has given me the opportunity to gain a foothold in a new country and pursue my dreams. My greatest wish is to successfully complete my apprenticeship. I want to be a role model for my children and show them that it's never too late to pursue your dreams. I've worked hard to get this far.
